Welcome to Daini High School's math and science class!

Our math and science class was founded in 1969, and many of our alumni have gone on to play an important role in society. Although a lot of the students who join our class are interested in math and science, the curriculum is also well integrated with other subjects. The class allows students to develop the skills needed to enter university in order to study subjects such as science and engineering. The main difference between the math and science class and the general classes is that students get the opportunity to study three science-related subjects. This allows students who wish to study medicine or a related field at university to meet the entrance requirements for the course.

Our class also completes research assignments and takes trips to Amakusa in order to conduct fieldwork. Students are expected to develop their own research interests, perform their own investigation, write up their findings and give a presentation on completion.

Our school is the only one in the prefecture which participates in the SSH (Super Science Highschool) project. Daini was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2003 as a participant school for an initial period of three years, and for an additional period of five years in 2006. In the SSH program, students have the opportunity to participate in many supplementary activities. Students attend lectures given by university professors and also have the chance to visit research laboratories. They may also attend science classes given in English. Through the SSH project students are introduced to state-of-the-art developments in science and technology.

Students who wish to join the math and science class should have a keen interest in math and science and should be prepared to work hard and do their best.

So why not become a member of Daini's math and science class and study together?
